Women-led conservation in action—nurturing indigenous medicinal trees for people, forests, and future generations.

Indigenous Tree Conservation & Cultivation

Through urgent conservation, medicinal tree nurseries, and propagation of indigenous species, we are protecting the Arabuko Sokoke Forest, restoring degraded ecosystems, and securing sustainable livelihoods rooted in traditional knowledge.

Youth Training & Capacity Building

Ufanisi Conservation Group empowers young people with practical skills in herbal medicine preparation and forest conservation. Through hands-on training, youth learn sustainable harvesting, seedling nurturing, and indigenous knowledge preservation, building livelihoods while nurturing a new generation of conservation champions committed to protecting Kaya forests and their communities.

Plastic Recycling Training Program

We conduct hands-on training sessions where community members learn how to reuse discarded plastic bottles to create functional items such as dustbins.

These trainings focus on:

  • Reducing plastic pollution in the environment
  • Promoting creativity and innovation
  • Encouraging community responsibility
  • Providing practical, low-cost waste solutions

Forest Protection & Conservation

Ufanisi Conservation Group works to protect the Arabuko Sokoke Forest through indigenous tree planting, community awareness, and local conservation patrols. By engaging residents in forest stewardship, the group reduces deforestation, safeguards Kaya forest ecosystems, supports biodiversity, and promotes sustainable livelihoods that depend on conservation rather than forest destruction.

Making Dustbins from Plastic Bottles

These pictures showcase members of Ufanisi Conservation Group during a training session where they were taught how to transform old plastic bottles into durable dustbins.

Through this initiative:

  • Plastic waste is removed from the environment
  • Communities gain valuable recycling skills
  • Affordable waste management solutions are created
  • Awareness on environmental conservation is increased

This simple yet powerful approach helps keep our surroundings clean while inspiring sustainable living.

Ufanisi Conservation Group stands at the intersection of conservation, traditional healing, and community empowerment. By protecting the Arabuko Sokoke Forest, establishing medicinal tree nurseries, and sustaining indigenous knowledge, we are restoring ecosystems while transforming lives. This work is urgent—and it cannot continue without support. Your contribution helps plant trees, preserve forests, and sustain women-led livelihoods rooted in healing and hope.
